Local Union emerged from the diverse and vibrant musical landscape that is the DFW music scene. The genesis of this ensemble traces back to 2016 when vocalist Jonan Rigsbee and bassist Paul Douglass forged a friendship while working as temporary musicians for Wynn William's country band and Ryan Berg's acoustic pop ensemble within the same week. Over the ensuing years, their collaborative journey spanned various musical genres and projects.
In the wake of the pandemic, Rigsbee and Douglass decided to channel their creative energies towards composing music that truly resonated with their artistic vision, as opposed to serving as hired talent for others. In the summer of 2022, they welcomed versatile multi-instrumentalist, Ryan Stogner, into their ranks, and together, this trio embarked on crafting what would become their debut EP, "Midnight Gospel."
The recording process for "Midnight Gospel" took place at 7013 Sound in Ft. Worth, Texas. Here, under the guidance of producer Clint Kirby (known for his work with Tyler Halverson and Bonnie Bishop) and the engineering expertise of Grant Wilborn (noted for his collaborations with Ryan Bingham and Red Shahan), Local Union brought their musical vision to life.
Completing their lineup with the addition of drummer Trevor Kubie, Local Union now stands as a formidable quartet. Their collective efforts culminate in a dynamic and electrifying live performance, characterized by infectious grooves and seamless harmonies.
